Peter Shearer

Candidate for Ward 2

Peter Shearer has been a resident of Old Bridge since 1985. He retired from his own business in 2021.  He considers himself to be from “Main Street”.  “I had to get things done.  My product was on time, at price, and working.”

Peter is a lifelong small “d” democrat. He believes democracy is more than a word – it provides accountability of our leaders.  “The study of economics is the study of who benefits from what.  The USA has a majority of people who do not have $500 for a $1000 emergency car repair.”

Peter believes that the Republican leaders in OB have prioritized developers over the residents of Old Bridge. He has seen the Republican leaders of Old Bridge attempt to use OB assets to benefit the township at the expense of the school budget leading to the tax increases we are all facing.

With a Democratic majority on the town council, Peter believes we can refocus our priorities to making Old Bridge more affordable for residents and especially Seniors who are facing increasing electric, gas, water and sewage rates in addition to the School taxes.
